INDEPENDENT FREIGHT AGENT

R.B. Humphreys, Inc. — Rome, NY (Remote)

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Independent Freight Agent with R.B. Humphreys, you will build and manage your own book of business while operating under our established authority. Backed by more than 60 years of experience in temperature-controlled transportation, you'll have the flexibility to pursue opportunities across a variety of freight markets. You focus on sales and customer relationships — we handle the back office.

COMPENSATION

Competitive commission structure with transparent terms discussed during onboarding. Earnings are directly tied to the business you build — there is no ceiling.

Up to $20k sign-on bonus for qualified operators.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Experienced freight brokers (no MC authority required)
• Sales professionals ready to build an independent freight business
• Entrepreneurs who value long-term partnership and relationship-driven business
• Self-starters with an existing book of business in freight
• Must have an operating brokerage or fleet operation
  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prospect, develop, and manage freight shipping accounts across the Eastern U.S.
• Match shipper freight with appropriate carrier capacity using R.B. Humphreys' asset-based division and brokerage network
• Build and maintain long-term customer relationships across a variety of freight segments, leveraging R.B. Humphreys' deep expertise in temperature-controlled transportation when opportunities arise.
• Negotiate rates and service agreements with shippers and carriers
• Communicate proactively with customers on load status, issues, and solutions
• Work independently while collaborating with the R.B. Humphreys operations and support team
