Area Project Manager – Fire Alarm & Low Voltage

Northern California

KPS Alarms, Inc. / KPS PowerHome is one of California’s largest fire alarm and low-voltage systems integrators. We provide installation, service, and monitoring solutions for many of the nation’s leading homebuilders and multifamily general contractors, including KB Home, Brookfield Residential, City Ventures, SummerHill Homes, and others.

Our systems include Fire Alarm, Security, Home Automation, Structured Wiring, Home Technology, and other Low-Voltage Systems for new single-family, multifamily, and apartment construction.

We are seeking an experienced Area Project Manager to oversee projects, field personnel, and day-to-day installation operations throughout Northern California .

Position Overview

The Area Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of multiple fire alarm and low-voltage construction projects. This position manages field staffing, project schedules, labor and material budgets, installation quality, and customer commitments.

The ideal candidate combines field construction experience with strong leadership, planning, and project management skills and is comfortable being accountable for the financial and operational performance of their assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple fire alarm and low-voltage projects from startup through completion.
• Manage project labor and material budgets and maintain accountability for project performance.
• Forecast labor requirements and ensure projects are properly staffed to meet construction schedules.
• Manage, coordinate, and support field supervisors, technicians, and installers.
• Recruit, develop, train, and maintain a skilled field workforce capable of supporting current and upcoming workload.
• Monitor project progress, labor productivity, material usage, and job costs.
• Coordinate manpower between projects as schedules and priorities change.
• Ensure installations are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Maintain high standards for workmanship, quality control, and jobsite performance.
• Identify project issues early and take corrective action to prevent delays and cost overruns.
• Coordinate with builders, general contractors, superintendents, internal departments, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure projects meet customer schedules and contractual deadlines.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules, forecasts, and status reporting.
• Help ensure field operations comply with company safety requirements and applicable jobsite safety standards.
• Drive projects through completion so work can be inspected, closed out, and invoiced promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience managing, staffing, and training field crews performing fire alarm and/or low-voltage installations in residential new construction.
• Experience managing multiple active construction projects and field crews simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of fire alarm and/or low-voltage installation practices.
• Experience managing labor requirements, project schedules, and jobsite priorities.
• Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment with changing schedules and priorities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating with builders, general contractors, field personnel, and company management.
• Proficient with computers and standard business/project management software.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned Northern California territory.

• Anticipate scheduling and manpower issues before they impact projects.
• Take ownership of their area's operational and financial results.
