Assistant Station Manager

Progress Chevron/Cain Petroleum is hiring now for an Assistant Station Manager. This position is responsible for assisting the station manager and providing excellent customer service while fueling vehicles with requested fuel grades by performing the following duties.

Completes morning books and paperwork and maintains daily DEQ reporting requirements.

Prepares daily reports of fuel and oil for store open and close.

Assists manager with shift coverage.

Essential Functions and Duties:

• Greets customers, answers questions and provides prompt, courteous service.
• Activates pumps and fills customers fuel tanks with correct grade and amount of fuel and providing receipts of sales.
• Responsible for all payments transactions with customers including cash payments, dispensing change, and running credit card payments while maintaining accurate cash register drawer.
• Reporting all maintenance concerns.
• Dispenses propane for customers (may not be applicable at all stations).
• Responsible for tobacco sales for customers (may not be applicable at all stations).
• Completes assigned cleaning responsibilities.
• Washes windshields.
• Reports any suspicious activity to direct supervisor and authorities, if needed.
• Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
• Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
• Respectfully takes direction from supervisor / district coordinator.
• Maintains Chevron Customer First Standards.
• Opens and closes the station when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

Previous experience and/or training in fuel/gas station environment is required. One year of related experience and/or training in management, assistant management or supervisory role is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations:

This position does not require any certificates, licenses, or registrations.

Travel Requirement:

This position does not require travel.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills:

Has the minimal skills necessary to operate a computer. Can log on to a computer system, navigate in windows, perform simple tasks within applications and enter information into a database.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mobility & Strength:

Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces (concrete and tile) for extended periods (up to 810 hours per shift, excluding scheduled breaks).Lifting & Carrying: Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs. (e.g., cases of cases, bags of ice, propane tanks, and stock boxes).

Reaching & Bending:

Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead to stock low or high shelves, clean equipment, and load outdoor displays. Ability to walk on uneven pavement.

Manual Dexterity & Stamina:

Repetitive Hand Movements: Fine motor skills required to operate cash registers and POS systems, scrape ice, pump fuel, and wipe down counters. Continuous Movement: Ability to transition quickly between indoor cash register duties and outdoor forecourt maintenance. Repetitive hand gripping (for fuel nozzles).

Environmental Elements:

Weather Exposure: Exposure to variable outdoor weather conditions for extended periods, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow, while maintaining the pump areas.Chemical & Odor Exposure: Ability to safely work around gasoline fumes, oil, automotive fluids, and standard commercial cleaning chemicals.

Safety Equipment:

Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as high-visibility vests, safety glasses, or gloves when necessary. Job Type: Full-time.
