Job Description

Claims Adjuster

Velonetic represents the joint ventures between DXC Technology, the International Underwriting Association (IUA), and Lloyd's of London. Previously referred to as the London Market Joint Ventures, we have been operating for over 20 years in the London market (Lloyd's and Company), in both insurance and reinsurance business. Processing over £101 billion worth of premium and claims transactions today, we are building a new digital platform and services that will enable our customers to move transactions and money through the processing lifecycle with greater efficiency and speed, releasing time to drive innovation and focus on higher value activities.

We're growing our Claims team and are looking for experienced Claims Adjusters with strong technical claims knowledge and, ideally, proven London Market insurance or reinsurance experience.

This role is primarily aimed at candidates who are already operating as Claims Adjusters, Senior Claims Handlers, Claims Examiners or equivalent technical claims professionals and who are confident managing claims activity beyond entry-level handling. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring practical experience of London Market processes, customer expectations and claims lifecycle management.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply existing claims expertise from the outset, with support available to build deeper market, system and process knowledge where required. The level of appointment will reflect the candidate's skills, experience and technical capability.

Working under the direction of a Team Manager, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality claims services while ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed service levels. You will also be expected to exercise sound judgement, identify claim issues, manage priorities and support the resolution of more complex matters where appropriate.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reviewing, validating and processing insurance claims documentation across a variety of classes of business, applying technical claims judgement and market knowledge to ensure appropriate outcomes.
  • Managing and adjusting claims in line with delegated authority, market requirements and agreed claims procedures, including identifying coverage, quantum, liability and settlement considerations where relevant.
  • Maintaining accurate claims records and documentation.
  • Liaising with customers, brokers, underwriters and other market participants to resolve queries, progress claims and support effective claims outcomes.
  • Investigating and analysing claims issues, identifying trends or technical concerns and escalating complex or sensitive cases where appropriate.
  • Preparing reports, updates and recommendations, ensuring agreed service levels, quality standards and regulatory or market expectations are met.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering excellent customer service.

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who already have demonstrable claims adjusting or technical claims handling experience and who are looking to apply that expertise in a specialist London Market environment.

You may be:

  • An experienced Claims Adjuster, Senior Claims Handler, Claims Examiner or equivalent technical claims professional seeking broader exposure to London Market insurance and reinsurance business.
  • A claims professional with experience managing claims from review through to resolution, including stakeholder engagement, issue investigation and settlement support.
  • An insurance professional with strong claims experience looking to deepen your technical knowledge and progress within a specialist claims environment.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Demonstrable claims adjusting or technical claims handling experience, preferably within London Market insurance or reinsurance.
  • A practical understanding of claims lifecycle activities, including validation, coverage considerations, query management, settlement support and escalation of complex matters.
  • Confidence working with brokers, underwriters, customers and internal stakeholders in a claims service environment.
  • Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear claims updates, reports and recommendations.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable and will be important in assessing suitability for the role:

  • London Market insurance or reinsurance claims experience, including familiarity with Lloyd's and/or company market processes.
  • Treaty and/or Facultative reinsurance claims.
  • Claims handling, examination, adjustment and settlement activities gained in an insurer, reinsurer, broker, third-party administrator or market services environment.
  • Liability claims, including Employers' Liability, Public Liability/General Liability and Product Liability.
  • Working with customers, brokers and underwriters.
  • Insurance policy wordings and principles.
  • Delegated claims authority, claims reporting and market agreement processes.
